Cheers and Tears as Chilian Mine Rescue Succeeds

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     TheVideoMan of Moreno Valley, California, reacts as the third miner is brought up to the surface. He says he and his wife, Roberta, were crying throughout the process. The experience of viewing this on TV reminded him of the triumph of the 1969 moon landing. "Talk about an incredible good news story. Everyone is alive," he said.
    - zdan, CNN iReport producer

In one of the greatest good news stories ever told, The 33 miners entombed for 68 days a half mile under the Chilean Desert have began the process of coming to the surface on 10.13.10. With laughter and tears Roberta and I watched live on CNN on what some people are calling one of the greatest miracles ever seen on Earth.

Please watch Al's report to the end, for his commentary and diagrams that help to explain this incredible "Good News" story of the century. It reminded us of the Moon landing when I was a kid in 1969. Wow, what a night...

This is what broadcast journalism is all about. The HD video from the top of the mine to the bottom was simply incredible. You really feel like you are right there!

We pray that this historic rescue will continue thru the next two days without serious problems or accidents. God bless all the rescuers and first responders!

VIVA CHILE !!! This piece is dedicated to CNN Ireporter Ulman, a great reporter, teacher, and husband from Santiago Chile!
