IPhone 3G doesn't charge with many IPod docks
For all of you out there planning on moving to the IPhone 3G and ditching the IPod once you make the move, I wanted to let you know about a new "feature" of the IPhone 3G.
The new IPhone 3G does not charge with many IPod Docking stations, it will play music but no longer charge. Specifically, if the dock uses firewire charging it will not work - usb charging works fine.
Is it just me or does this seem really irresponsible on the part of Apple? For a company that prides itself on being green, it is somewhat ironic to think that such a small detail on a new phone could potentially cause thousands of otherwise perfectly working stereos, speakers, car chargers and fm transmitters to be thrown into the trash. It's not like this stuff is easy to recycle.
The original IPhone works fine, it's just the new one that has this issue.
