Building burns while fire fighters try to contain fire from jumping across to other buildings, This happens to be a very historic building in downtown Spokane. The name of the building was named the Joel was built in 1899 for Boothe-Powell Co., a wholesale grocer founded three years earlier in 1896. Cutter and Malmgreen, a celebrated architectural firm in Spokane, designed the building that cost $8,000 to build, according to documents at the Historic Preservation Office
