'The Change': Coping with menopause |
Seeking Treatment
I am finally going to go and have my hormone levels tested at HRC Medical in Cincinnati. i have been dealing with perimenopause and menopausal symtoms for over 5 years. The insomnia, night sweats, hot flashes, joint pain, lack of energy and depression are just too much to handle.
I am an active, healthy person who has watched what I eat and exercised regularly for many years (I am 5' 7" tall and weigh 118 lbs.), but I need help, as much as I thought I could handle this on my own with a healthy lifestyle. I have even gone to therapy, but my therapist sent me to an older, male psychatrist who diagnosed me as bi-polar, but when I took the prescribed medication it did not help me (although I did realize the Cymbalta did help my joint pain when I went off it). I don't think I am bi-polar (I have a sister who is so I am familiar with the condition), but it has been a struggle for some time.
I went on the HR medical website and can honestly say I have experienced every single listed symptom except one (erectile dysfunction). It is a last resort but after researching natural hormone replacement I feel hopeful. Will let you know how it goes!
