This iReport is part of an assignment:
Your U.S. city of the future |
My Suburbs of the Future
Here is my self-published/self-designed Suburban Home of the Future (all rights Reserved.) It features Four Bedrooms Three and a half baths with a pool and a guest house.
It's built with Space-Joist Brand Joists and Fiber-Cement Siding along with three Glue-Lam Beams on a slab foundation. The First floor studs are comprised of 2x6's and the second floor of 2x4's. Thompson Strong Ties secure the second floor to the first in the event of adverse conditions.
The home is completely electric with the possibility of a natural gas line for the Master Kitchen and backyard BBQ.
The water heater is a combination of an electric flash-type and and electric storage type heater to improve efficiency.
The home is sparsely lit and features ceiling fans in each Bedroom.
The laundry room is located in the Master Bedroom.
My best guestimation for the build on this home is about $10,000/phase in materials (at least that's what I had in mind.)
Once again this home design is my Intellectual Property as published on 10-27-2010 the graphics are produced by Punch! Software.
