    Skulls and Bones ..a scary Halloween in the Catacombs...

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     yadray says he got to spend two days exploring the catacombs and taking photos and video of the famous attraction. He said it was an amazing experience, but that getting good photographs was a challenge. He said he just about ruined his shoes because of the lime dust from the catacombs.

    Paris catacombs....skulls and bones of nearly 6 million people exhumed from Paris cemeteries over hundreds of years and piled in these quarries...in the 1780's an area  was intentionally selected outside of the city limits to prevent the spread of disease which was rampant in the Les Halles area of Paris.....

         The city limits have been extended and today the catacombs are nearly center-city at Denfert Rochereau ...they are miles long and deep cut into limestone...much of which was removed and crafted into bricks that would be the foundations of among other historic structures...Notre Dame Cathedral....

     

        Definitely worth a visit... especially if you like to be scared...
