The Boulder Dome Wildfire - Part One
Good afternoon everyone...
This morning Boulder residents once again saw the terrifyingly familiar sight of smoke billowing over the mountains to the west of the city.
According to local news reports, the Boulder Dome Wildfire began at approximately 8:30AM this morning near Boulder Canyon.
At last report, over 143 acres are in the burn zone. Several neighborhoods have been evacuated for precautionary reasons. As it stands, the evacuation zone is five blocks south of my house here in NW Boulder.
High winds this morning (gusts of 30-40 mph) helped the fire spread as emergency personnel responded to the scene. Planes have been flying over our neighborhood all day long at this point assisting those firefighters on the ground.
As of yet, no injuries or loss of property have been reported. However, the feeling of tension around the city is palpable.
Fortunately, the winds seem to have died down this afternoon which should help in containment efforts.
Best of luck, speed, and courage to all those brave men and women battling the blaze.
More to come…
