The Biggest Halloween Parade in the World: Boo York

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     sjunat55 has lived in New York City for years but last night was the first time he took part in the nighttime Halloween parade. 'While the theme was voodoo, every creature you can imagine was represented, even a guy dressed as a rescued Chilean miner, rescue capsule and all,' he said.

What started 38 years ago as a small neighborhood parade down several blocks in Greenwich Village, has become the biggest Halloween party in the world, the only major parade in the country held at night.

Over 2 million spectators and thousands of participants took part in this event on Sunday, October 31.

Starting on Spring Street, the parade moved up Sixth Avenue to 18th Street in Chelsea. Shortened by several blocks to save on police overtime, the march included every character and costume one can possibly imagine, from a Chilean miner in the rescue vehicle, to zombies and skeletons, a pro gay marriage Jesus and the Chilean president with the now famous note from the underground.
