CNN PRODUCER NOTE     YoHighness says this sun halo 'was a welcome gift to brighten up my day.' It's his dream to be a journalist, so shooting this iReport was exciting, he said.

Residents of Johannesburg, South Africa, was astounded this morning to see a crown of light around the sun, or more commonly known as a sundog.

According to Wikipedia a sundog is an atmospheric phenomenon that creates bright spots of light in the sky, often on a luminous ring or halo on either side of the sun. This is due to ice crystals in the sky.
