    What a difference a year can make.

    Not simply pictures, these portraits have the power to shock, amuse,  inform and reveal -- the best summing up complex situations in a single  glance and flick of the shutter.

     

    Just a year before my little daughter Jessie was all about Santa Claus. Christmas 1978 she was terrified. I was able to snap this photo before we removed her from the "evil" old elf.

    By Christmas 1979 she was loving Santa agin.
