Early morning in Yogyakarta and for the first time in three days, the skys have cleared and dimensions of Mount Merapi's volcanic eruptions can be viewed from a distance. A huge column of hot ash and gas continues to rise thousands of meters into the morning sky. The first rays of morning sunshine hit the top of the column of smoke while the peak of the volcano is shrouded in a thick haze of falling ash.
