Kid Changes Eating Lifestyle and Meets Inspirational Bicyclist
- Asiegel1202, CNN iReport producer
Ten year old Marshall Reid and his family have spent the summer relearning how to eat and incorporate activity into their sedentary lifestyles. Dubbed, Portion Size Me, Marshall has been journaling his experiance through youtube and CNN ireport videos. One of his inspirations have come from a facebook friend he has tracked for two months and finally got to meet in person.
Teddy Herrera was mystified that his cousins would not go outside and play with him. So Teddy organized to create "Across America For Childhood Obesity" and is riding his bicycle 11,000 miles to help bring awareness to the American epidemic. Starting in California he alone travelled across the States and as he passed through North Carolina Marshall was able to meet with him and take him to lunch.
Teddy's cousins now get out and ride bikes around the neighborhood and add their miles to a map following Teddy's path. Marshall continues to follow Teddy via text messages and Facebook as he heads south to Florida.
Thanks to Teddy for having the courage to be inspirational, motivational and please, please be safe!
