Kids Toys Are Apart Of Our Culture

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     mskents collects kid’s meal toys because they often remind her of when her children were growing up. 'I have a Pokémon toy which reminds me of when [my kids] collected Pokémon cards and traded them with their friends,' said mskents. 'My favorite toy is E.T. because I love the movie so much.' mskents remembers her children's reactions as they watched the movie. Kent continued, 'My kids loved Superman so that toy brings back memories of when they played with [their] action figures.'

Kids Toys are apart of our culture.  I've been collecting them since my sons were little so I have quite a few.  I wanted to remember their childhood so when I see the figures they bring back memories.

The Simpsons toys are our favorites.  For years I wouldn't let them watch the show  because I thought it was a little cynical and for adult humor.  The first show I let them watch, they were hooked.  My sons left for college and my husband is still watching the show.  Homer is always getting into trouble but you can tell he loves Marge.  Marge loves her family and wants to do the right thing.  I love her blue hair because it shows how individual she is.  I tell my kids the Simpsons are a satire on our culture and they say Yea mom I didn't notice.  Thanks for the insight.

I love the Rugrats because the stories are so true.  Dora is a strong character and has a lot of fun.  Ronald McDonald seems so happy.  Jack, he's just a regular guy.  He enjoys kayaking and skiing.  It might have been a marketing tool to make you think eating Jack's Tacos will make you more athletic.  If that's true I'm very in shape.

I think kids toys are a great way to make your kids a little happy on their way to soccer practice or on their way home from a game they lost.   Being a parent isn't easy when they are fighting in the backseat.  A little toy can help calm the storm.  So I say toys stay, just maybe with some apples dipped in peanut butter.
