Up Close: The $5M Automotive X-Prize Winning Edison2 VLC

What does it take to win Five Million Dollars in the Automotive X-Prize competition?

http://MPGomatic.com gets a close look at the Edison2 Very Light Car (VLC) at the SEMA show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Edison2 VLC went against the tide and achieved over 100 miles per gallon (MPG), by focusing on super-lightweight design. The VLC is fitted with a turbocharged 250cc Yamaha motorcycle engine running on domestically produced E85 (ethanol) fuel.

The sleek, unconventionally-designed VLC weighs just over 800 pounds and seats four, with plenty of legroom. Race car technology put the car into the winner's circle in the grueling competition.
