Go up Beartooth Pass on the Wyoming/Montana border near Yellowstone Natl Park. If your vehicle can make it up that at 10.947 feet. Not going that way or want another challenge. Drive over Independence Pass east of Aspen at 12,095 feet.
If you're in Wyoming then you have to go see Devil's Tower in northeastern Wyoming (puts you not far from Mt. Rushmore also). Devil's Tower is where they filmed Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Magnificent rock and if you're lucky you'll see some rock climbers going up it.
