    "She's finally going home"

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     michelle1234 followed the story of one stranger's gift to a family who lost their daughter in combat. An artist saw Emily Perez's picture in the newspaper after she was killed in action in Al Kifl, Iraq, on September 12, 2006. She was from his hometown of Heidelberg, Germany, and they’d never met, but her story stuck with him. He was inspired to paint her portrait from the newspaper clipping. After he finished the painting, he decided to send it to her family in Baltimore, Maryland, this Thanksgiving. michelle1234 followed the painting to Maryland and sat down with the Perez family when they received it.

Two families are united  by one American soldier.  The story starts in Germany. That's where an artist began sketching his plan for the rare military reunion you're about to see.
