    Giant Lantern Festival

     

     

    Nine giant lanterns measuring 20 feet high was showcase in the Giant Lantern Festival in San Fernando, Pampanga a.k.a "Christmas Capital of the Philippines."

     

    Each lantern uses around 9,000 bulbs with intricate electrical synchronization that matches the detailed Christmas designs of the lantern. The exterior of the giant lantern is made of fiberglass or a handmade paper.

     

    Today is the 102 celebration of the said festival. During the early 1900, lanterns are  2 feet high, made of paper and with candles inside as lighting. In 1931, lights are introduced in the lanterns and the rest is history...
