    Lunar Eclipse, The Beginning

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     shumopper spotted this ring around the moon just a few hours before the eclipse started. Turns out it's a halo effect that happens often in the winter time, so shumopper just got lucky and spotted two phenomena in one night!
    - lila, CNN iReport producer

Standing on my backyard deck at around 11:00pm at night, I saw the most interesting thing I have ever seen in the night sky. A ring, perfectly circular, surrounding the moon. It was clear as day and extremely bright. With the pending lunar eclipse about to occur in roughly 3 hours from this time, obviously it had something to do with it. I thought the chance to photograph this image was once in a lifetime and I am glad I was able to capture it.
