    Destinations

-Cody, ---You now have several Scout lovers watching your journey. I think destinations that could be added would be trips to Anything Scout in CA, Back Country Binders in CO, Super Scout Specialists in OH, Howteron Products in IN and maybe a few more places along the way such as The IH Scout & Light Truck Nationals (AKA NATs) in OH if you're still running on Sept. 5th-7th. ---Also, since you are now a proud owner of a Scout, may I suggest signing up with the Binder Bulletin www.binderbulletin.org and even the IH-Digest email service, where you can post via wireless along your trip. If you were to have problems along the road, you would surely find out how tightly knit of a community we IH lovers are... surely your mechanic already has mentioned if youhave not found out already. ---As a proud owner of a 1974 Scout II, a 1979 Scout II Traveler, a 1953 Farmall H and a 1949 International Harvester refrigerator, I congratulate you on your new addition to your family, wish to warn you that they are addictive and if you park them too close together, they will multiply. I hope you will accept my welcome/invitation to the IH community and regardless of what the reporter thinks, welcome to the world of 300k+ mile trucks. ---If the temp and fuel gauges are effected equally (oil pressure is usually due to the sensor), there is a CVR behind the Oil Pressure Gauge that steps down the 12v and puts out a pulsing 5v to all gauges (except the ammeter which is unregulated). The problem could be simply related to the either the thermal spring or capacitor being bad/old, or the fuel gauge could be wrong due to a bad ground at the frame in front of the right, rear tail light. New CVRs are hard to come by, but a good (early model) mechanic should be able to find a close match and adapt it to the gauge. Super Scout Specialists has a new fuel sending unit for about $60 also. New temp sensor is part number: AC-Delco 2131117, AC-Delco C8025 or GP Sorensen TSU60. Check Rockauto.com for your oil pressure sending unit. It'd be nice to have crucial gauges while making your trek. ---I have attached a wiring "diagram" from the Mitchell Service Manuals for the 1977 Scout II. It is the cleanest copy I have, no changes were made between late 73 and 1978. Super Scout Specialists will have the Service Manuals for your year... a two volume set for $80. ThePresident/Owner of SSS is related to the President of International Truck & Engine and they are responsible for the reprinting of the IH/Navistar Scout Manuals... along with Binder Books. The copy I sent to you is considered public domain because it was made in 1995 at a library in MI when I first bought my Scout. It was from the reference section of Manistee County Library.
