Misty the Dolphin fights for life in 2011

In Taiji, Japan, made famous by the Oscar winning film The Cove, Misty a captured wild dolphin is fighting for his life. Isolated from the other dolphins at the Dolphin Base Resort, it it thought that Misty has a bacterial lung infection. Yet there is no evidence that he is getting proper medical treatment.

Separated from a family that fell victim to the brutal fishermen in the killing Cove, Misty floats quietly in a tiny algae filled pool. There is no fresh water circulation. These inhumane conditions would be objectionable for a healthy dolphin. For a sick dolphin who relies on social interaction, they are nothing less than cruel and barbaric.

Organizations such as the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and Eyes on Taiji and their supporters are working to gain support for proper medical treatment and ultimately the release of this dolphin.

Further information on Misty's plight can be found at...
