This iReport is part of an assignment:
Your New Year’s Eve celebration
Male mayor dress up like a woman on new year's day
To preserve the tradition of his town, the Mayor Arturo Naguit of Minalin, Pampanga dress up like a woman on New Year's Day to celebrate their "Aguman Sandok Festival.
"Aguman Sandok" or "Belles of Minalin" is the annual festival of Minalin, Pampanga where men dressed like a woman and they go dancing in the streets on New Year's Day to give laughter. The festival started in 1932 after the town had experienced extreme drought in 1931. To welcome 1932 with a big bang and to make the people smile after the calamity, a group of men started the new year of 1932 by wearing dress and it became a success....The festival also pays tribute to the contribution of women in the family, that's why after the street dancing and parade, the best dressed men (not gay) will be crowned with a ladle and receive a clay pot trophy.I find it hard going there and in the internet there's no proper instruction going there. I got lost! So to those who are planning that in the future will spent a bunch of new year's day with laughter - this is how to get there:
-Ride a bus going to San Fernando, Pampanga and it will cost you P 99.
- From San Fernando, ride a jeepney going to the market of San Fernando and ask the driver to drop you at the jeepney terminal of Minalin and it will cost you P 7.
- San Fernando, Pampanga to Minalin jeepney fare id P15.50
