Update: Although the Congresswoman was reported to have died by NPR and CNN, it is now being reported that she is in surgery.

NPR and now CNN report the Congresswoman has died. As many as 6 others have also died. This is devastating.

The tragic shooting death of Democrat Representative Gabrielle Giffords is compounded by the realization that the Congresswoman was one of 20 Democrats in the crosshairs on Governor Palin's map of the US targeting members of Congress who voted for the health care bill.

If this shooting turns out to be a deranged supporter of Governor Palin, it will be a wake-up call to the dangers that inciting extreme citizens with this type of imagery can cause.

The shooting took place at a Tucson grocery store where the Congresswoman was hold a constituents meeting. At least a dozen people were reported shot and 7 have now been confirmed dead.
