Ice Climbing at Rocktown Climbing Gym - Oklahoma City
Pictures are from a day of ice climbing at a popular climbing gym in the heart of Oklahoma City. Aaron Gibson, co-owner of Rocktown, created this vertical ice flow on the front of the silos using landscaping irrigation equipment and a garden hose. After three days of below freezing temps, the result is a 60 foot ice climb on the front of the building! Climbers gathered to try the ice climb, for many of them it was their first experience ice climbing. The flow is expected to last at least one more day but as temperatures rise into the 40s and 50s the climb will slowly melt away. This new breed of Oklahoma ice climber is already looking forward to the next round of cold weather and another opportunity to farm some ice!
