Recovering from injury with family
Strength we never knew we had.
May 11, 210 has forever changed my family's lives. We have learned that if you believe it you can gather the strength to do anything.
My husband Andrew was in a head-on collision with a driver who was not paying attention. He suffered multiple broken bones including both knees and femurs; the left in two places. His injuries were so severe we were lucky he made it past that first night. and he was in a medically induced coma.
Five days after the accident Andrew had several mini strokes that caused brain swelling. The strokes were from complicaions of his injuies, either from what is called fat emboli syndrome or lack of oxygen or both. We were told that even if he recovered that his outcome did not look good.
We chose to have the hope that Andrew would make a full recovery. Now it has been 8 months since the accident and we could not ask for much more. In August he woke up and started talking, he started being able to move. Through rehab he is starting to walk again and if you did not know him you would not know he had a brain injury.
Hope, believe, faith, family and friends.
