The day of the Challenger explosion was horrible for all of us around the globe.

i remember returning home after classes and my Mother and brother were listening to the local Rupavahini Channel in Sri Lanka.  There was no CNN broadcast at that time in SL.

My mother just put up her hands to her face in utter horror, and my brother's eyes were glazed and bare looking, I was with my mouth open staring at the plume of smoke on the TV screen, one moment there was a shuttle going up and the next all we could see was a burst of fire and plume of smoke - it was the most horrible day of anyone's life to witness that horror of horrors.

For days and days I was thinking of all those astronuts who lost their lives in mid air, and I was wondering what their last moment was did they even have time to even think of that horror, I pray and hope that they did not know anything at that time.
