Valley Park, Missouri

This iReport is part of an assignment:
Severe weather |
Meramec river flood
These images were taken in and around Valley Park, Mo along the Meramec river on 3/21/08. "Danger", "Have we got a deal for you" and "My place is over there..." were taken in the morning between 9-11am. "Danger" was taken from the Valley Park Levee. Around 2pm the search and rescue teams began amassing at the high school where I teach. They were using it as a command center. There were 2 "bubbles" in the levee that were now "seeping" water. There was a desperate call for volunteers to sandbag in order to hold back the seeping water. They gave up when the first layer of bags gave way and water continued to pour out. At last count they had 250,000 bags trying to hold the "hole in the levee."
"Water under the bridge" is at the intersection of hwy 141 and 44 in Peerless Park. The water has not ever been this high, even in '82 and '93.
