Promising AIDS research reveals HIV Virus weak spot
"We have discovered a part of HIV, a small region on
the surface of HIV, that is mostly unchangeable. The reason
that is unchangeable is that the virus must keep it constant so that it
can attach itself to cells."

Obviously more research needs to be done but he estimates within the next 10 years there could be a vaccine. Clincial trials are set to start in the next 9 - 10 months.
