The Morning After The Blizzard in Chicago
It wasn't traffic jams or crowded buses that dominated the morning rush hour in Chicago today. Instead, it was empty expressways and almost-commuter-free downtown trains as the city was waking up to its biggest snow day in more than a decade.
When I walked out and headed into the city early this morning, I could only hear silence - broken only by the wind gusts and the occasional vehicle as the city was obviously not going to work as usual.
It seemed like the Loop and the Gold Coast were getting a break in the morning routine, with the exception of the few coffee shops where dozens huddled - many with cameras (like me) to document this historic snowfall.
As I was waiting for my cup, I could hear someone say "Happy Groundhog Day!" How could I forget?
