Shortage of Natural Gas in NM
In Taos, New Mexico, PNM, the natural gas provider for the region, has told its citizenry they have run out of natural gas. The entire town has shut its business doors as of Thursday.
People have been told the reason there is a shortage of natural gas is the -30º temperatures. This is an odd explanation because every winter Taos temperatures plummet to -30º. It is a temperature that defines the temperature zone 5 that Taos County is located within.
False rumors were circulated about the resulting lack of electricity that would ensue because the residents would supposedly all turn to electrical heaters. Many of Taos residents have fireplaces and woodstoves, however, and the electricity has remained on.
As of this morning, Saturday, Feb. 5th, PNM claims it will take another 4 days to provide natural gas to its customers.
The author hopes an investigation will ensue.
