This iReport is part of an assignment:
Did Congress do enough? |
Democracy or Demoncracy
It's kind of funny. When I typed this title into my computer, the infamous "spell-checker" quickly suggested that I substitute with another word..."Democracy." It does so, of course assuming that I inadvertently misspelled the more familiar. Ironically, it is the only word substitute that spell-checker was able to offer. "A rose by any other name..." I believe that it was Winston Churchill who stated that, "Americans will always do the right thing...after they have exhausted all other options." What an amazing difference the inclusion of one letter can make, or the absence of...reveal. Demo_n_cracy..."a government, rule, of evil beings...devils." I believe a befitting quote of historical perspective was made by Edmund Burke, when he stated, "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men (and women) to do nothing." Let's take a look at some of America's triumphs...Oil companies post record profits, while consumers feel the pinch at the pump...President Bush and administration lie about weapons of mass destruction in justifying going to war in Iraq...Congress votes itself an increase in pay... Tomorrow morning go into work and tell your "employer," your new salary and health care plan. Tell them you have restructured your pension and investment portfolio. Let them know that from now on you'll be taking a two-hour lunch. And that you may decide to have a martini while you're there. Well if you can't do it...why are you "the People" allowing your "elected" employees to do it to you? A government by the common people or "a government of evil beings...devils," prostituting the theory of politics, which in itself is another interesting word...Politics or Pol_y_tics...goes so hand in hand with American Demo_n_cracy. What's that rule...sometimes "i" and sometimes "y." Trees are grounded in their roots...so often are words also. "Polytics...multiple, numerous bloodsucking parasites." Once again, it's the only word substitute that spell-checker can offer.
