Jordanians protest, "Why is my loved one in jail?"

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     JOHNNYCOLT told me, 'I came to Jordan to try and create a deeper dialogue with people from this region than what we see in the news cycle.'

    Amman, Jordan,  February 9th, 2011.

Today, Jordanians have taken to the streets in front of of the Egyptian Embassy in a very different type of protest. The small group of passionate voices declare that "they want their jailed loved ones returned to Jordan." Stories of Jordanians receiving prison sentences without any form of due process fill the air as my cameras pass by. Countries such as Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria and the United States have all been declared guilty of violating Jordanians' humanitarian rights. Protracted prison sentences without the accused knowing why they were arrested are commonplace according to the shouting crowd. This group of protestors ultimately want the return of all Jordanian prisoners back to Jordan to serve the remainder of their prison sentences.
