This iReport is part of an assignment:
Did Congress do enough? |
Democrats should rejoice!
People are constanly complaining about congress but they seem to be doing exactly what the "young liberal movement" wants!
Lately congress has had a mock Bush impeachment trial, a seemingly mock trial against cigarettes, and a bold new marijuana idea. Though many see this as simply a blatent waste of time it seems more like a fillibuster to me. Which is exactly what the Dems need right now.
Congress easily agreed on the necessity, the morgage bill. Now americans are getting greedy. The morgage crisis was devastating many families, losing entire homes, while the energy crisis tends to just mean no new HDTVs for most americans.
Any drilling bill put forth by the republicans is just going to mean aesthetic eyesores, a destroyed enviornment, and put us further down the path of climactic apocolypse. All for a 10 cent decrease in gas prices 7 years from now, when gas could be $9 to the gallon for all we know.
On the other hand new a new alternate energy idea could make things better for all of us. Americans, point blank, refuse to think long run, but then again, thats why so many of us are in avoidable debt and overweight.
Congress and yes, Ms. Nancy. Are doing exactly what they need to: Keep the republicans at bay until we can agree on something that is actually going to do more help than harm. Or keep them at bay long enough for the Dem nominee to get into office.
This is an issue that will affect our children and the earth they are born into, and every good americans should want to pass on the best to their children and should look past selfish and misinformed panics, and look at the big picture. I hope other Democrats look outside the ignorance box on this one and support congress during their next re-election.
