    Cody's Big Bio-fuel Adventure

    Southern New Mexico

If your route goes through Tucson, AZ and then through Southern New Mexico, consider taking the scenic route and skipping I-10. To do this; take 1-10 through Tucson, stop for lunch or dinner at Reb's Cafe in Benson (first Benson stop) http://www.mytravelguide.com/restaurants/profile-57488305-United_States_Arizona_Benson_Rebs_Cafe_Coffee_Shop.html then proceed down I-10 past Wilcox to highway 191. Take this north toward Safford, AZ. and Guthrie. Then pick up Highway 78 going East to Highway 211. Take 211 south toward Buckhorn and Silver City. Once you get on Highway 78, you start to enter the Gila National Forest. There is great camping all along the way and it is so beautiful. There are plenty of places to camp near Silver City too. After Silver City, take Highway 152 east toward Truth or Consequences and Hatch. 152 will drop you onto I-15 just North of Hatch where the famous Hatch green chilies are grown. Be sure to stop at B&E Burritos. Just get off the only exit for Hatch and it's along the main road. It's great NM cuisine despite the scary dining room. They have a take out window. Continue down I-25 to Las Cruces. I-25 meets I-10 just on the other side of Las Cruces. If you take I-10 west and get off at Main, then follow the signs to Old Mesilla, there are several great restaurants there. Our favorite is El Comedor or La Posta. Here is the mapquest page to get to Old Mesilla from Hatch, NM http://www.mapquest.com/maps?1c=Hatch&1s=NM&2c=Mesilla&2s=NM&2pn=ElComedor#a/maps/l:::Hatch:NM::US:32.665298:-107.152496:city:DonaAnaCounty/l:ElComedorRestaurant:2190NHighway28:Las+Cruces:NM:88005:US:32.276372:-106.795175:address:/m::7:32.472133:-106.943572:0::/io:1:::::f:EN:M:/e Once you leave Las Cruces, there's nothing until you get to El Paso, TX (about 40 minutes away). There is a biofuel distributer in Anthony, which is right outside of El Paso on I-10 http://www.riovalleybiofuels.com/ Have a good trip!!!
