    Mardi Gras Day in Metairie

With the threat of rain, I decided to spend Mardi Gras Day in Metairie, LA this year.  Metairie is right outside New Orleans and has a more family-friendly atmosphere.  The Krewe of Argus rolled first at 10:00am with Henry Shane as the king and his granddaughter, Amanda Lynn Schott, as the queen.  Two truck parades with about 100 floats each followed Argus.  One particular float got most people on their feet as it passed.  You will see it pictures above, which was filled soldiers back from Iraq.  Most people stood and cheered.  It was a day of lots of fun with family and friends.  The streets were packed with revelers ready to catch the standard beads, cups, and doubloons to bouncing balls and anything Saints or LSU.  Luckily the day turned out great with just a few sprinkles of rain.

All in all this was another great Mardi Gras season!!
