    Japanese Tsunami Flooding from Space

     

    Two images were generated using data from the Landsat satellite.  One is from February 24, before the earthquake,  and the other is from March 12, after the tsunami hit the land.  The flooding is visible in the lower right corner of the image. flooding. The images are also available in KMZ format from http://cervone.gmu.edu/etc/Japan-20110312.kmz

     

    The images were processed at George Mason University, in the Department of Geography and Geoinformation Science.
