The 5 things I learned at SXSW

I'm also a first-timer at SXSW and despite being 20 years older than the average attendee age, I had an amazing time. The 5 things I learned:

    1. SXSW is probably one of the only conferences you will attend and have someone sitting in a session with a Brocolli head on. Nice!

    2. 50% of all internet access today is mobile.

    3. Companies that don't have a social media effort are going to lose out. Ones that think social media is just putting up a Fan page are going to lose out.  To win you have to, well, be social, be human.

    4. Business cards will soon become extinct. Hashable is the next business card.

    5. Despite a slow recovery economy, there is a tremedeous amout of positive energy out there. Slow economies, layoffs, etc. only seem to bother those with mortgages, 2 kids in college, and less than 10 years till retirement.

SXSW rocks and I will be there next year!
