    Woman Nailed to the Cross

A woman is one of the five (5) devotees who re-enacted the passion of Jesus Christ by having themselves nailed to the cross for a few minutes during Good Friday rites in Kapitangan, Bulacan, Philippines.

Despite being frowned upon by leaders of the Catholic Church, this practice continues to prosper every year as scores of peninents volunteer to endure the pain of crucifixion to atone for their sins, pray for a petition or fulfill a vow.

The Philippines is the largest predominantly Roman Catholic nation in Asia.
