John Edwards admits to extramarital affair |
A Personal Matter
As John Edwards does not currently hold office and is not a candidate for public office, why is this newsworthy? At this point, it's a private matter between him and his family.
Disappointed? Sure! Feel betrayed by a former presidential candidate I supported? You bet! Would I support him in the future? Damned right, I would! He did a terrible thing, but it has no direct impact on the everyday lives of Americans - it's not like he lied to get us into a neverending war in the Middle East, for gosh sakes.
If we're going to make affairs newsworthy, why not go after the current Republican nominee? What exactly IS the MSM's statute of limitations when it comes to presidential candidates' previous affairs? How about asking "Teflon John" some hard questions for a change.
