son with drug addiction problem robs neighbor. Story on http://lawyerahead.ca
Drug addicts can cause alot of problems in our society. Explains why there are programs like time2talk.org.
Read this story of a woman who got mugged by her neighbors son:
I live in a quite neighborhood where the surroundings are serene with nice people living around me. I am forty eight years old and a patient with a heart condition as well. I have been advised by my doctors to go out for a brisk walk which I do everyday in the evening. I walk around quite fearlessly even in the evening after sunset as I know the place well and all the people are known to me. I was never expecting what had happened with me one evening.
It was nearly time for a nice sunset when I set out for my walk. After a few minutes into my walk I saw the son of my neighbor come after me and thought that I would have some company for the walk. One of the first things that this boy did as he approached me was to ask me for some money, which I was not carrying. I asked him why he needed that was told that it was none of my business. His tone was brisk and he sounded more like passing an order than asking for something. I was wearing some light jewelery and the next ting I saw was that he was asking me to take it off and hand it over to him. I was shocked at his attitude and asked him to just leave me alone.
That angered him even more and he just hit me on my face with his fist. I was down on the floor and nearly passed out but managed to get hold of myself and shout for help. People staying near by heard my cries for help and responded immediately but the boy managed to run away. I was taken to a hospital and needed some treatment for the attack but what had surprised me most that this boy that I had known since a long time had just mugged me and was asking for something that he should be looking towards his parents for.
I did not make a report with the police wanting to find out for myself what the matter was with this boy. I met his parents and was told that this boy had gotten into bad company and was doing drugs every day. He was also stealing from his home and perhaps not finding anything to finance his habit for that particular day he had pounced on me for the money. The parents were generous enough to apologize to me for the actions of their son and suggested that we file a police report against him. They went out of their way to get that done and had their son arrested the same night for the offense.
The boy was tried in a juvenile court and sentenced to a term with the juvenile center and also ordered to enter into a rehabilitation program to get better of his habit.
I was thankful that my neighbors understood the problem that I had faced and acted promptly to have things improved for me but still feel sorry that a boy that I had seen since his childhood had wasted himself in this manner.
