how the government shutdown will affect me

I will be personally affected by the government shutdown in two ways.  First, I have been waiting on my social security disability application to be processed for almost one year now.  I doubt that anything would happen to it in the short time of a government shutdown since nothing has happened in a year, but it could affect it nonetheless.  Second, my IRS income tax return was denied electronically because it said that someone had already filed under the same social security number.  The IRS could not provide any additional information, but said that I would have to file a paper return.  I need that rebate check.  I am already going to have to wait an additional six weeks for it to be processed, and will have to wait even longer in the event of a government shutdown since they will not be processing paper returns.
