Sasin students' success in pretigious New Venture Championship (NVC)

Sasin’s aQuainnova team won the Second Place and US$10,000 cash prize at the prestigious New Venture Championship (NVC).

The team members are Patraporn Saenawatanakul, Nichaboon Purnaveja, Prapada Prapan, Porametr Chetnakarnkul, Rosalin Chanyasak, and Donsiri Aromsook.

Now in it’s 20th year, the competition is hosted by the University of Oregon, and remains one of the most highly-regarded and longest running post-graduate business plan competition in the world.

From a field of over 100 teams from around the globe, aQuainnova was among only 16 teams to be invited to compete in the Semifinals in Portland yesterday. Sasin students beat teams from Carnegie Mellon, U of Manitoba, and U of Michigan to qualify for the finals. In the finals today, aQuainnova finished ahead of a Johns Hopkins team and host team from U of Oregon …and only narrowly lost out to the winner from U of Texas at Austin.

Other teams not yet mentioned that participated in this competition are University of Louisville, University of Illinois at Chicago, Thammasat University, Indiana University, HKUST, Washington State University, Portland State University, Brigham Young University, and University of California-LA. Against undoubtedly world-class teams at a top graduate business plan competitions in the world, aQuainnova held their own amidst some extremely tough questioning from a panel of very astute judges. After entering NVC 3 previous times, this is the best a Sasin team has ever performed at this competition.

Their achievement is no small feat and should be well congratulated. aQuainnova have one more competition. The team has also qualified for the finals of Startup@Singapore competition to be contested on 21st May.
