Tornado Slams Merrill Wisconsin footage

Merrill, Wisconsin 04/11/2011 - Video after picture.
Most forecasts promised bad weather across the Midwest this weekend. They were'nt wrong. About 6:30 p.m. last night the sirens blasted their warnings. Wausau was spared but the town of Merrill, 17-miles north, didn't fare as well.
Witnesses describe hearing a loud explosion and quickly learning life suddenly changed in seconds. Massive destruction across the area.
Merrill is a beautiful town and this was sad to see. The warning system saved many lives. A proud city that will rebuild and be even stronger as a community when the clean-up is done. Sounds of hammering and chainsaws were everywhere. No life threatening injuries reported at this time.
The tornado that hit this area was an EF2, possible EF3. The National Weather Service says the path was 22 miles long, up to a half mile wide. Monday night law enforcement declared a curfew in effect from 9 p.m to 6 a.m Monday morning. Many surrounding communities are helping in the aftermath. It's been reported that 10 tornados swept across the state Sunday evening.
Governor Scott Walker toured the area Monday night and was surprised the destruction didn't take lives.
We hope to show the strong resilence of the community rebuilding in future iReports.
