Small plane crashes in New Orleans
- ccostello3, CNN iReport producer
Around 2:30 pm, a small plane crashed in New Orleans in the Lakeview subdivision at West End Blvd and Harrison Ave. The pilot had just left the Lakefront Airport when his engine lost power. He was attempting to land his plane in the grassy area between the two streets when he hit a moving minivan. Inside the van was a family, including two children, ages 2 and 1. No one was seriously injured.
The driver of the minivan said he did notice the plane was flying low. The plane clipped a small tree and then hit the van, splitting the van's hood in half and smashing the windshield. The van was pushed over a few feet, and the plane spun around landing on the neutral ground.
