John Edwards admits to extramarital affair |
Media Coverae
Whether or not this is considered a personal matter, which in my opinion it is, I respectfully must disagree with CNN's portrayl of this story, and CNN's honest coverage (refrencing 'updated 2:12 p.m. EDT, Mon August 11, 2008 CNN.com readers react to Edwards scandal'...the first paragraph specifically). Over this past weekend, it was very apparent, not by myself only, but also honest media outlets and 'icons', that not only was this story not covered, it was deliberately ignored. Thinking about future generations, and possible influences, which I tend to do, I, and in my opinion all of us should be, am concerned with what CNN's approach to bipartisan coverage - which highlights the 'Rights' flaws regularly, however looks the other way with the 'Lefts' flaws, as in this case. I can only say, what if this was Romney...didn't even actally make it to a ticket (at east not yet), and I would gather it would be top story for at least 3 days...and front page. What is this approach teaching our youth, and early adults, CNN, about honesty and fairness? And, about actal facts that are spun (look what you are doing with Barrack presently...what about all his 'mis speaks and flip flops, and his heritage even he himself is not honest about?)
I respectfully understand you all have a job to do, and business is business. However, character and honesty are character and honesty. What do you want our youth to be influenced by? Win at any cost, slant the truth, ignore actual facts..Or, do you as an organization have the foresight to understand the adverse effect I believe you're approach to reporting is having on our coutry? At least be fair. Honesty can never steer anyone wrong. It's not always easy, however, it separates the 'men from the boys'...pardon the male only refrence with this well known quote.
My hope is that you allow this excerpt to be read. Unfortunately, I don't fully trust CNN understands what the First Amendment truly means.
