This iReport is part of an assignment:
Do your kids have a cell phone? |
Cells within reason
Of my three children, only the 17-year old gets a cell phone as he drives and attends school farther away from the neighborhood. My daughters will have phones when they attend school out of neighborhood; for now, we live a 15 minute's walk from their elementary and a cell would be a needless expense. Some of my 11-year old daughter's classmates carry them, but they have working parents and sometimes need to communicate. It's just not a necessity for our family, but I can see where it helps other families.
Both the middle and high schools have "no cell" rules during school hours. If a user is caught texting or using the phone in class, it is confiscated and not returned until a parent comes in to claim it!
