This iReport is part of an assignment:
Young People Who Rock |
International Youth Day, Youth and Climate Change: Time for Action
To celebrate International Youth Day 2008, more than 600 young people from across Cambodia joined in a national youth forum under the theme "Youth and Climate Change: Time for Action".
Over 60% of Cambodia's 14 million people are aged under 24. Young people will play a critical role both now and in the future to raise awareness, mobilize their communities and respond to the effects of climate change in Cambodia.
Already there is evidence of an increase in tropical vector borne diseases such as Malaria and Dengue Fever and experts also predict more natural disasters such as floods and droughts will affect the country.
The enthusiastic participation and fresh ideas presented by the young people at the forum demonstrated the willingness of Cambodian youth to BE PART OF THE SOLUTION.
