This iReport is part of an assignment:
Watching the royal wedding |
The Royal Wedding Blanket to mark the occasion of William and Kate's Wedding.
- nancyt3, CNN iReport producer
My name is Sue,
I run an on-line Crocheting and Knitting group in the UK with members all over the world. We are busy making 'Sunshine Blankets' for Elderly residents in Nursing homes in the UK. My members send me 6" squares and I put them together. We have already made 61 Blankets which have been hand-delivered to the Elderly.
Many elderly people sit alone in nursing homes for hours on end not seeing their family and friends and we hope that a gift of a hand-made blanket would be like a ray of sunshine into their lives, bringing a smile to their faces knowing that someone has taken the time and trouble to make a square for their blanket.
We are not only helping the Elderly but we are also having fun as a Group having monthly Challenges. Amongst these I set a special Challenge to make a Royal Wedding Blanket. My members never fail to amaze me because I have had Squares come in from all over the World as far as USA, Canada, UK, Europe, Australia and NZ.
