Tornado damage in New Melle, MO

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Mospotter lives about a mile away from where these photos were taken. He took these photos around 8 p.m. Friday and said that him and his family did take shelter in their basement. 'I am just thankful that as bad as this tornado was no one was injured or killed,' Mospotter said. 'I would like to think our local meteorologists are to thank for no one getting hurt or killed because they kept us on top of the storm and up to date.'
    - ccostello3, CNN iReport producer

The storm hit around 7:30pm Central Time the sky went dark started to get some very gusty winds. I am a storm spotter and live 1 mile from where the tornado hit. I am suspecting the winds I received was from the outskirts of the tornado. I did not get hit directly but, as I said I live just 1 mile from where it did touch down. Everyone is ok bless the lord. I talked with one of the victims who told me "I came into town from Indiana to visit my family here and this has totally caught me off guard." She then jokingly said "I guess I brought the tornados here." I over heard one of her family members saying "it sounded exactly like a freight train." So the victims were seemingly upbeat despite being hit by the tornado.
