    Royal wedding hat challenge

Ivette Cardoso's entry for the Royal wedding hat challenge -- what fun!

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     gablesfilly says, 'I've always been interested in the history of the royals, and it all started with the wives of King Henry VIII. I watched the wedding of Diana and Charles, and it's only natural that I follow the wedding of their children. Their lives are so different from mine that I find it absolutely fascinating.'
    - dsashin, CNN iReport producer

I definitely planned to stay home and watch the Royal Wedding all day. Then out of curiosity, I looked up the local watching parties in my area, and found one in a quaint club near where I live, where prizes will be awarded to those wearing the best royal wedding guest attire. Well, I just couldn't go without a proper hat, so one trip to Walmart and 2 hours later, I finished this creation out of a straw beach hat, which I painted and embellished with a large pin, flowers and colorful feathers. This hat has a special surprise.  See all that long, blonde hair?  It's part of the hat! My real hair is blonde, but it's a lot shorter. Best wishes to William and Kate!
