This iReport is part of an assignment:
The new face of 50 |
50 means I have to lie on my resume.
I may not look 51 and I certainly don't act it.
God knows I'm doing everything I can to stay "younger looking".
I work in Advertising in the NYC market and that means I have to lie on my resume with regard to my age. (so I graduated four years later) People might say,"Oh, Bob you are being silly". Well the people saying that are in their 20's and 30's
Fifty might be the new forty in some other areas but in Advertising 50 is is the new 70. So much of what advertising is. is staying current and relevant with pop culture and trends.
While my friends and I are all current and very relevant and possess great experience and talent, it s all diminished if you have grey temples or look as though you might be a bit stiff when getting up from a chair. Older is looked upon as a liability in this business. Yes there are exceptions. But it's not the rule.
If I could make as much money working for the USPS, I would. It would be so much more emotionally easier.
